Job Description:
The Internal Audit Department (IAD) at HFHI is seeking a Staff Auditor with prior audit and/or forensic accounting experience. This role involves evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls across various departments at HFHI’s headquarters, international area offices, and selected programs within Habitat’s US and international organizations. The Staff Auditor will report directly to the Manager of IAD and will be responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on operational, financial, and compliance audits.
Key Responsibilities:
– Assist in planning, coordinating, and supervising operational, financial, and compliance audits.
– Prepare audit planning memos, risk-based audit programs, and test plans.
– Conduct audits professionally, adhering to HFHI IAD’s standards and the International Professional Practices Framework.
– Draft and monitor the quality of audit reports.
– Document processes, procedures, and test results.
– Monitor outstanding audit recommendations.
– Provide consulting and advisory services as appropriate.
– Assist in developing the IAD annual risk-based internal audit plan.
– Support the VP of Internal Audit in preparing reports and presentations for board and Audit Committee meetings.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, information technology, or a related field.
– 3+ years of experience in internal or external audit management.
– Experience with international travel and cross-cultural communications.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
– Strong critical thinking and project management skills.
– Active support of HFHI values, including humility, courage, accountability, and safeguarding.
Preferred:
– Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
– Certification as a CPA, CIA, CFE, CISA, or other relevant certifications.
– Fluency in a second language.
– Proficiency with Galvanize HighBond auditing software.
– Knowledge of SunSystem, Navision, Salesforce, and Infor Reporting.
– Experience with Mortgage Procedures and Regulations audit procedures.
– Experience using data analytics tools.
