Job Description:  

As an Underwriting Assistant at Crum & Forster, you will provide critical support to our underwriting team by handling pre-quote transaction activities, policy drafting, and post-bind transactions. Your role will involve data validation, policy drafting, premium booking, and communication with producers to gather necessary information. You will also collaborate with various departments to streamline processes and ensure the accuracy of policy transactions.

Key Responsibilities:  

– Retrieve and validate reports and data from various sources, including OSHA, Safer, Crime, Experience Mods, and Risk Meter.

– Assist in verifying proper documentation for coverage and limits before completing transactions.

– Communicate with producers to obtain required information and ensure accurate data entry into underwriting workbooks and systems.

– Complete the transaction process post-underwriting bind, including policy drafting, data verification, and premium booking.

– Issue approved policies, report policy data to third-party agencies, and resolve any issues with these agencies.

– Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by collaborating with other departments and assisting in testing system releases.

Qualifications:  

– Knowledge of insurance processes and procedures, especially in surplus lines of business.

– A college degree is preferred.

– Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to take initiative.

– Proficient in computer skills, including Word, Excel, and internet-based technology.

– Excellent math and data analysis skills.

– Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
